Who is William Charles Kirby to our family?
A compassionate person to others and to animals.
He is a protector of the family, from grandparents, parents, siblings, his beautiful bride,
children, grandchildren and to his country. Fifty years ago, he valiantly fought for the US
in Vietnam and returned home wounded.
He gave nicknames to his children and grandchildren. Although, these nicknames may
sound offensive to others, for him, it was his terms of endearment. He called Joseph
“Fatboy”, Daughter-in-law, Ana, “Sweet Baby”, Joann “Fatbaby”, Alexander William (first
grandchild) “Butterball”, Lance Christian (second grandchild) “Pineapple”, Liam
Christopher (third grandchild) “Chicken-Egg”. He even named the family dog, “Puppy
Lips”. William Charles Kirby had several passions. One of these are his collections of scale
models of the HO rail transport. One of the rooms in the house is solely dedicated for his
model trains. In fact, his train collection fills up the entire room.
Next, is his passion for History. He would watch the History channel and collect history
films. Finally, he was an avid reader. The house is filled with pocket books, history
books, and more.
He is the rock of the family. He made sure that we had a roof above our head, provided
everything we need, and made sure we were all loved and taken cared of. Finally, he
loved his beautiful wife very much.
