Obituary for Michael Edward Owusu-Siaw Sr.
On Monday November 4, 2019 Michael Edward Owusu-Siaw Sr., age 77, beloved husband, father and grandfather, died peacefully at his residence in Germantown, MD, with his family by his side. Born on September 22, 1942 in Ghana to Paul Kwaku Siaw and Theresa Akua Gyama.
Based in Maryland, USA since 2003, after career of more than thirty years as a Head of the Information/Publishing Division at the Building and Road Research Institute (BRRI)/CSIR (Council for Scientific Research) (CSIR) based in Kumasi, Ghana.
Associate Professor at the College of Art at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) from the 1980's to the mid 1990's.
Earned his Masters in Education Degree from Strayer University and became a substitute teacher with the Montgomery County Public Schools, Maryland from 2004 until 2008.
A staunch Catholic, he belonged to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church at KNUST from his student days until the time he left Ghana. He then became a member of St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Gaithersburg, MD.
He was a proud supporter of the Black Stars, Ghana National Men's Soccer/Football Team and of the Liverpool Soccer Team, England
Beloved husband of Theresa Owusu-Siaw. Father of Vivian Owusu-Siaw of Ghana, Eunice Owusu-Siaw of Delaware, Michael Edward Owusu-Siaw Jr. of Maryland, George Owusu-Siaw of Maryland, Patrick Owusu-Siaw of Maryland and Priscilla Owusu-Siaw of Maryland. He is also survived by son-in-law Kwame Busumtwi of Delaware, grandchildren: Benjamin Busumtwi of Delaware, Recheal Oppong and Ellen Sally Nartey, and Samuel Mensah of Gaithersburg, MD.
Visitation will take place on Friday November 22, 2019 from 5 pm to 9 pm at Thibadeau Mortuary, 124 East Diamond Avenue Gaithersburg, MD 20877. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday November 23 at 11:00 am at Saint Martin of Tours Catholic Church 201 South Frederick Avenue Gaithersurg, MD 20877. Interment will follow at All Souls Cemetery 11401 Brink Road Germantown, MD 20876.
