Memories from Pritam’s grandchildren in England.

We fondly remember growing up with Mum (as we knew her) living with us at home in England whilst we were young.

Coming home from school to freshly made roti & dal was always a treat for us & our friends. In fact we remember Sam our dog was partial to the odd stray roti that came his way! Mum always saying the he looked after us and so she must also look after him. She was incredibly caring.

Cooking for the family was a big part of Mum’s life - her roti was perfectly round, beautifully thin & even, she made delicious dal, not too spicy for us kids but full of flavour. I recall marvelling at her yogurt fermenting in the airing cupboard and the time she took to lovingly make Chai Masala. Perhaps that’s where Charlotte & Emily’s love of cooking for friends & family comes from?

We also recall a family trip to the Lake District, a stunning mountainous area in North England where Mum joined us. We went for dinner in a local pub and she ordered sausage & mash. When the food arrived her face was a picture - the Cumberland sausage was the size of the plate and she couldn’t believe it - she chuckled away!

One summer during school we went and stayed in the US at Pisarro court. We had a brilliant time checking out the theme parks, shopping malls and always enjoyed getting home to see Mum. She had usually been busy preparing more delicious roti and dal for us.

Roger and Emily had a round the world trip in 2008 and we stopped off to see Mum and the family at Pisarro court. It was just after Christmas and we remember enjoying a feast of turkey and all the trimmings with Mum, my Mum who had flown over from the UK, Babs, Mahindra and Georgie.

A few years later Charlotte, our parents and Emily had a quick trip to Washington with Emily’s eldest son, Freddie. Freddie made Mum's face light up with his chatter and smiles, it was such a treat to see them together.
